Unable to generate output in IE 5.5

Using IE5.5, I am unable to generate output from:

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">

<xsl:for-each select="employees/employee">
     <xsl:value-of select="name"/>
</xsl:for-each>

</xsl:template>

</xsl:stylesheet>


But if <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
is replaced with <xsl:stylesheet
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/TR/WD-xsl">

then the results are displayed.
