David, > Do you know of any tool that can generate a CSS stylesheet usable to > display a given XML instance containing Formatting Objects in a XML-aware > browser. Please look at www.renderx.com/Demos/fo2html/. This is not exactly what you mean - it is an XSLT stylesheet for Formatting Objects that produces HTML+CSS1 as its output; but probably you can get some inspiration from there. (I wonder if you can do it without XSLT, by mere CSS stuff: to handle footnotes or XSL FO lists properly, you need conversions outside CSS scope).
