I am sorry for the tone of my answer which I shouldn't have sent with
these words (I hope it has reestablished the contact with James though).

I'd like to say that :

1) This project can only be achieved with the support of the XSL
community and will not be done against its will.

2) I have a great respect for James, his vision, his contribution to XML
and, of course, XT.

I don't want to give the feeling of hiding anything and I have published
the private email exchange I had with James about 4xt and the archives
of the team4xt list (James is one of the subscribers) where we've been
discussing about XT maintenance :

My initial proposal (first privately then through team4xt) was to help
James with the support and documentation of XT which he doesn't seem to
like or have time to do :

I am still thinking it would be the best combination where we would act
as a support organization and would submit qualified bugs and feature
requests with, when possible, suggestions of code modification to James
whose help and guidance would be invaluable.

If this cannot happen and if the community approves and supports the
effort, we must (IMHO) try to keep XT (under this name or any other one)
alive by ourselves.

If we go in this direction, we will make sure the new XSLT processor is
differentiated from XT and that James copyright is respected.

Everybody will of course remain free of choosing which processor he will
use.

I think it's both legal (we will follow every word of James' copyright)
and polite (to XT users if not to James).

It's also conform to the principle of Open Source where ideas do not
belong to individuals.
