Sun's implementation of DOM has a write(Writer) method to write a DOM tree as XML. I have been using it with LotusXSL 0.18.2 and that was very useful. Alas, I couldn't make it work with newer versions of LotusXSL so I now use XML4J too (but I didn't try the DOMWriter class).
