The message from Paul Tchistopolskii, one founders of the company developing
RenderX stated that he was disemployed, not that development discontinued.

The product, FO2PDF, is being developed extensively and successfully,
and is still the fullest implementation of XSL FO available. A number
of improvement and innovations has been made since then, and the
new results will be presented to the general public in near future.
