I think Sebastian covered it well. Shortcut properties are in XSL
simply for compatibility with CSS. There is no real justification for
their inclusion on XML/XSL grounds, and they conflict with the design
goals of XML (see the XML rec, section 1.1, points 4, 5 and 10). They
make more work for the parser without adding any significant value.
