If you want a robust production-ready system for rendering your XML documents to high-quality print, it really is premature to consider XSL FO; a) the spec is not complete, and does not even claim to be freezing, and b) there are no full implementations of the draft we do have. Of course, if your formatting needs are fairly unsophisticated, you can do nice work today. This is not to say that in 6 months time the situation will not be much much better.
