 If you don't specify the encoding attribute, XT defaults to using ASCII, which turns out not to be implemented in all Java versions. For the Microsoft Java VM, you need MS Java VM 3177 or better. You can get this from: http://www.microsoft.com/java/download/32updates.htm For Sun's Java implementation, you need JDK 1.1.6 or better.
