If I understand what you're trying to do correctly, you can do this
using XML Script (http://www.xmlscript.org) like this...

  <_data>
    <!-- Animals names to translate -->

    <!-- Translations -->
    <Trans english="Dog" french="Chien" />
    <Trans english="Cat" french="Chat"  />
