Many thanks to Steve Muench for his reply.
The problem was simply a case-sensitivity issue as Steve correctly
predicted. IE5beta accepted "TransforNode" and this "bug" is apparently
fixed in IE5-prod. There are a number of other instances where
case-sensitivity has been tackled in IE5-prod compared to IE5beta.
