It's an interesting debate, but could I _please_ ask folks to either use
shorter quotes from the previous discusison or to make them more visually
distinct (indented, or at least >>> prefixed)? It's a real pain trying to
separate out the new discussion from the thread leading up to it.

(I have a personal near-religious belief that the extensive-quote-and-reply
style of discussion tends to be more prone to defensiveness and less
successful in actually communicating than most of the alternatives, and
would rather see the quotes _drastically_ trimmed on the assumption that
anyone who wants to see the prior context can hit the archive. But I
recognize that I'm in the minority on this one.)
