Just a thought: TeXML is now on alphaWorks. This is a tool that allows you to express TeX markup in XML syntax and then translate it to the normal representation. It could be used as the target of an XSL style which accepts FO's as input, and thus -- combined with normal TeX processing -- might provide a path for FOs to final rendering, albeit one that involves several additional stages. As I understand it, the bottleneck for FOs isn't so much one of how to render them, as getting an agreed-upon (sub?)set nailed down well enough that folks feel comfortable investing effort in a more direct implementation. ______________________________________ Joe Kesselman / IBM Research Unless stated otherwise, all opinions are solely those of the author.
