external-graphics

I'm busy with xslj and jade to create a rtf document via a stylesheet.
I want to be able to have images in the rtf file, and now I have seen that
there is a possible way to create by using the command: external-graphic.
My question:
is that true? and if so can anyone show me how? I don't know the grammar
of this thing. And if possible an example of this class.
