Hi Michael, Thank you for your help. I dont think I was confusing (a) or (b) but rather trying to learn how to declare an unprefixed element which has a namespace. Thanks for the link. I believe this is what I was looking for. You seem to be confusing (a) namespaces and prefixes, and (b) their occurrences in input data and XQuery expressions.
