Selene, It's not possible to use an external XQuery Engine in XMLSpy. This is on our watch list for a future release! Integrating Saxon as an external xslt engine w/XMLSpy is easy enough, but the XQuery 1.0 engine used will always default to our own which is also provided for free in the AltovaXML <http://www.altova.com/components_xquery.html> . I wrote a blog post on how to integrate external xslt engines in XMLSpy awhile ago if you're interested, http://www.xmlscoop.com/2007/12/xslt-transformations-in-xmlspy-using.htm l As to why you cannot get XQuery to work in XMLSpy <http://www.altova.com/products/xmlspy/xquery_editor.html> , you haven't provided any details about the problem. Please contact me off-list and I'll be happy to help you. Best Regards, ... Jerry Sheehan ... Pre-Sales Engineer ... I had been distracted by another priority, but am now revisiting this issue. To answer the questions regarding my environment, I am on a PC running Windows 5.1, and trying to get xquery to work in Altova XMLSpy Enterprise Edition 8. Is there something more I should be indicating? I tried downloading Saxon from sourceforge (the .NET version - is this correct? or should it be the java version? I have no idea)...but the Extraction Wizard gave me this error when unzipping the files: "Error reading the file". Even so, I won't be able to follow the instructions on integration Saxon with XMLSpy b/c I don't have access to a unix command line (see http://www.altova.com/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=1000000527). I am really at a loss as to what to do, if anyone can provide assistance... ________________________________ Selene Platt Site Developer, QVC.com http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk 484-701-8173 "Andrew Welch" <http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk> Ext: Sent by: http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk 04/13/2008 05:42 AM To "Kevin Grover" <http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk> cc http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk, http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk Subject Re: How to run xquery dynamically on file listing from directory On 11/04/2008, Kevin Grover <http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk> wrote: > I feel for you on this. For the archives then: http://ajwelch.blogspot.com/2006/11/using-collection-and-saxondiscard.ht ml If you are using Saxon then you may also need to use saxon:discard-document() when processing large collections of XML - otherwise each one will be held in memory (if that applies to XQuery?) -- Andrew Welch http://andrewjwelch.com Kernow: http://kernowforsaxon.sf.net/ _______________________________________________ http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk ________________________________ Selene Platt Site Developer, QVC.com http://x-query.com/mailman/listinfo/talk 484-701-8173 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
