Function and Query Evaluation with No XML Tags Error

No, it's exactly the same issue, and I'm not sure how I can explain it
any differently, However there are plenty of others on the list so I
hope someone else can find different words.

one last try.

$ad is a sequence of strings length 1, so in the function body $seq is a
sequence of length 1, so distinct-values($seq) is the same as $seq
so $doc is the same aa $seq you have an order by clause which thus
can't order anything (as there is only one value) you then return this
string as the content of the ad element.
