  XPath Issues in XQuery
Dear David:

  Sorry, I thought you meant you want to see where the <seriesStmt> is located.
  To answer your question on where the head elements are and its snippet, here it is:

<ad>
<head type="main">FREE POWERFUL MUSCLES FAST</head>
<head type="sub">FREE</head>
        <p>Fantastic mew discoveries in the science of body-building. Our method will
                        add inches of powerful muscles to arms, chest, shoulders & legs.
                        Learn secrets on trimming the waist with ultra-modern
                        methods—fast! Results guaranteed!
</p>
<note>One of my favorites.</note>
</ad>

Hope this would help with the debugging.

Alice

better to supply a small (10 line or so) complete input file.

The snippet you posted gives no indication about the location of ad or
head elements, no information about any namespaces in effect or any one
of 1000 possible sources of error.

you could delete them, they are not doing anything as far as i can see.
