None of DB2, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server require an XML Schema.

They have the option to associate a schema or a collection of schemas which then enforces validity.

It's my understanding that XML support in a number of the big relational
databases requires an XML Schema, and cannot store documents that do not
conform to the schema.
