Sure. Only trouble is, that kind of switch only benefits the 5% of your
users who read the manual or buy consultancy. It probably won't be used when
independent benchmarkers run your product and publish measurements. So it's
definitely a second-best option.

(Of course, the presence of such switches explains why vendors always
achieve better results for their own product than anyone else achieves.)
