eXist status

I haven't worked with eXist since 2005. Last I checked it was too 
unstable and susceptible to data loss for my tastes. However, it's been 
a couple of years and eXist has released several version in that time. 
What do people think of it now?

Has anybody experienced or heard of others experiencing data loss with 
eXist 1.0/1.1?

How frequently are new data losing bugs being uncovered?
