I'm not sure I understand the question exactly. When using Serene for
validation you need to create a JAXP  SchemaFactory, make Schema
objects and obtain validators. Internally, the official ISO Schematron
stylesheets are used in a chain of transformations.

With respect to correctness, I think Serene is about as correct as
Jing and there might be some areas where it is better, e.g., for
compiling schemas,  name class wild card syntax and simplification
handling, or several simultaneous restriction errors in the same
context and, for validating documents, list handling or order errors.

Some other differences would be that Serene error messages are not
influenced by things as the order of attributes in the instance
document and errors are described by referencing the concerned schema
definitions, while the Jing uses elements and attributes names when
possible and nothing in the rest of the cases.

The XSD datatypes support in Serene is done based on Xerces, so it is
as correct as that.

With respect to performance, I haven't done any really scientific
tests, but in my tests Serene is still somewhat slower than Jing. Over
the entire unofficial RELAX NG test suite, which I think now can be
found somewhere on the Jing site, with a blank ErrorHandler, in my
tests the report is Serene:Jing = 1.26. Same test over the Serene test
suite, which contains a lot more ambiguities and conflicts, results in
a report  Serene:Jing = 1.52. I still have work planned in this area,
things should improve some more, can't say exactly how much.
