DataPower XSLT Processor has something "like" this. The "Attachment Protocol" describes it for policy actions: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wsdatap/4mt/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.dp.xs.doc%2Fxmlfirewalldevelopersguide.xs40121.htm&resultof=%22attachment%22 Similar to "fetch" and "results" action the extension function <dp:url-open ...> http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wsdatap/4mt/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.dp.xm.doc%2Fextensionfunctions35.htm&resultof=%22url-open%22 allows to "get"/"post" from/to zip/tar archives (SOAP attachments) in XSLT. Stylesheet unzip-l.xsl demonstrates how to do "unzip -l" command: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=14691375#14691375 Posting "zip2html" shows how stylesheets inside a zip attachment can be executed: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/blogs/HermannSW/entry/zip2html6 And because the attachment protocol provides "real" URLs this is even possible if the stylesheet includes/imports other stylesheets or accesses XML files by document() calls -- see "Technical discussion" section. An XPath Functions Community Group might be a way to get that sort of thing to W3C's attention in the future, by the way. > > 2) Clearer story on how to use the ISO/MathML entity sets along with XML > Schemas, or with no schemas. I often hear "XML Schemas does not support > entities, so I cannot use entities with XML Schemas" or vice versa. It's perfectly possible, of course, to use a DTD (or DTD fragment defining entities) with XML Schema. > Preferably, build the default mappings of the entities into XML. The challenge here is backwards compatibility, although it could be done by using a different escaping character, e.g. the little-used "v v ligature" ("w") :-) It's interesting that I haven't seen any comments along these lines from the MathML WG. Probably they are more steeped in the arcane lore of DTDs and Schema Languages than the average MathML user. Thanks for the feedback! I'd for sure like to hear more about these topics.
