The updated utility is available at: http://gandhimukul.tripod.com/java.htm#well-formdness The notable improvements in this version are: 1) The comments can now be handled 2) The regular expression is more improved PS: If anyone could suggest a perfect regular expression for XML names (which needs to work with JDK 1.6.0), as per the XML 1.1 spec, I would be delighted to incorporate it right away to this code.
