Well that's not quite right; since he is defining a subset, any XML-reading tools should work fine; there might be problems with XML-writing tools, but a minor post-processing edit seems likely to clean that up. That's quite different, say, from an earlier discussion on this list where someone replaced the equal sign in attributes with a marker indicating the datatype, as in "price$'50'" or something like that. Life's not fair. In the early SOAP days, people complained because the spec outlawed DTD's.
