And while I respect Kimber's opinion, I note that many of his points are being quickly refuted by his commenters. That said, I still think this is not a war. It is a bit of gerrymandering for the next election. We're all getting pretty good at that. FWIS, the advantage of RELAX is that it is easier to learn and apply to most cases. Kimber makes some points about classing, but there is a bit of Hytime brain damage there in that object-oriented systems do that better and one is better off specifying a separate object model in a language more suitable for it given the need to associate behaviors. I'd really hate having to do what we do in real-time 3D worlds using only a data document model. In fact, we have and it was a mess. len From: Richard Salz [mailto:rsalz@u...] Elliot Kimber, a member of the original XML working group, has a very long piece on why he thinks XSD is a better tool than RNG; it's in his blog at http://drmacros-xml-rants.blogspot.com/2006/11/relax-wins-not-so-fast.html : "I find I am underwhelmed" For what it's worth, Tim Bray holds Kimber in *very* high regard (http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2006/02/24/Doctor-Macro :)
