RE: XPointer: which namespace bindings in the result?

namespace bindings
I was under the impression that the result of an XPointer was a reference to
existing nodes, not a copy; so the answer is that the namespaces in scope
for an element are unaffected by selecting the element using XPointer. If
you subsequently copy the node (as you might) then the behavior is defined
by whatever copy operation you use - if you use xsl:copy, for example, then
all the in-scope namespaces will be retained.
