Sounds like my job. :-) How much of the software industry provides shrinkwrap that can be bought out of a catalog vs how much has to be specified, required, negotiated, designed, tested, certified and delivered on schedule to a customer that begins to collect requirements for the next version while the to-be version is being compiled? I was throwing away a DEC VAX Fortran manual last week and stopped to think that once upon a time in my career, almost everything an application programming engineer had to know to create product was in two 1/2 inch bound notebooks. The rest was in their head. len From: Michael Rys [mailto:mrys@m...] There was some market study done that showed within the survey's context around 40% or the survey respondends were using XML for data representation... I can see how the IBM marketing team who is very good at redefining facts (ie their attempt to redefine native XML processing to mean Viper) could have reinterpreted that information too... Best regards Michael (personal opinion and all other disclaimers apply)
