In the case of JNVDL, performance was not the main design goal. 
Currently JNVDL uses JDOM to hold input document and to create sections 
from it. Then parts of this JDOM tree are dispatched for further 
processing. Of course you can wrap SAX or StAX around JDOM, but memory 
is already exhausted.
