As Lauren reminds us http://www.laurenwood.org/anyway/archives/2005/08/19/its-proceedings-time/ (gulp) it's time to write those proceedings papers for XML 2005. If you didn't submit a proposal first time around because your work was too hot to make public, , the deadline for Late Breaking News and Product Presentations is September 16. See http://2005.xmlconference.org/ Speaking sortof for the Program Committee, to be perfectly honest, we didn't get very many proposals on some topics we hope to get on the program, including tagging, AJAX, the WHAT efforts to clean up Web 1.0 specs rather than moving to XHTML, XForms, etc., and the whole Web 2.0 meme that has taken the world by storm in the last few weeks. PLEASE submit proposals in these areas, or in any other area related to XML. We've also tried some new ideas to help the conference continue to be vital even as XML becomes ubiquitous. For example, the Town Hall format has been tweaked to make them more, well, like xml-dev with lots of give and take. If you want to have it out face to face with the people you argue with here, submit a Town Hall proposal. Also, there's going to be an Efficient XML cage match with proponents of various ways of sending and processing XML more efficiently presenting their views and defending them from each other and the audience. If you have something to say about, for example, the binary XML debate, bring your hard questions and compelling arguments. Security has been asked to confiscate rotten fruit at the door :-) As always, there are tutorial days to provide deep coverage of the XML technologies and keynote speeches that will put it all in perspective.
