This is the primary reason for all the interop woes with regards to SOAP/XSD/WSDL. Yup. I wouldn't be astonished if AJAX-style apps move away from XML the way they have shunned WS-*. My guess is that this is specific to the AJAX, etc. domain and not the sign of a larger scale move away from XML, but obviously I don't really know.
