but there is a big difference between doing years of research and
looking into a microscope.. I can follow awarding a patent for that...
sortof...

but just logging on to an open source project, downloading code,
printing it out and taking it off to the patent office is another story.

Here we would call that fraud - but obviously in other places it's 
just another day in the life of a big corporation.

If we do that here, we stand the risk of going to jail. Making a
claim that we invented something when we were fully aware
that we didn't invent it and claimed the right anyway. It's called
fraud. It's serious.. and you get serious jail time. Comensurate
with the profits made by the fraud.

but it will be interesting to see if there are any police investigations
into these matters. Somehow I doubt it. 

let's go after the terrorists... it's more fun.. does anyone know if it is 
time to start a new war yet ? not sure if we finished the last one
yet...
