My misguided guess is that it probably has to do with the UML diagrams we all used to draw on the board when designing systems. Somebody obviously didn't get invited to the design meeting, got [expletive deleted] off, and patented the what Yourdon invented and showed us all how to do. Unless I am mistaken, how can it be anything other than a vindictive patent? A shape? drawn since the beginning of mankind now patented... one has to ask if there is some sort of corruption of the patents office happening here... no wonder so much software development is going to parts of the world where people are safe from prosecution. It's just getting less safe to write any code anymore in any western country. funny though - it just drives developer jobs to countries that pirate all their software - because they are the only places safe that it is safe to write software. and in our developed countries - it's almost impossible to work safely anymore. and we sit here and wonder why all the job losses?
