The question is do I want a richer more, fully featured car that is
supported by a handful of roads and repair shops, or a less featureful
car that is supported by a majority of roads and repair shops?

Especially considering that that the more featureful car only costs
about ten times as much and gives you such useful features as being able
to run on diesel and regular gasoline?

Wrong. SOAP's broken by design. Even if every platform supported it
perfectly, REST would still when in the end.

Wrong again. JavaScript's still evil, though perhaps marginally less so
in browsers where it can't be used to bombard the user with pop-ups and
spam.
