To the question, is the web exhibiting stochastic behavior, 
this thread might be offered up as the counter-example.  
The Internet is simply plumbing for an immune system 
of content.   What cannot be answered with certainty 
is if the web has an identity, a self, or if the  
answer is that it replicates the behavior of 
its network structure in the identification of relationships 
among content without a clear notion of self, and is  
merely a struggle among machines of contexts 
making selections of succeeding states without 
the requirement for progress or improvement, but only purpose.
