That's in the category of conspiracies and great games, something 
like seeing to the demise of XUL so that XAML will have room to 
grow and making sure SVG is never more than a mapping application. 
XLink will just lay there.  Too many people discovered functions 
and stored procedures.

The phase after unlimited growth in a market is a shake out. 
After that,the world is stable with dinosaurs ruling until 
a comet hits or it's time for new hardware.

A slowdown will be a good thing.  I'm not entertained rewriting 
the same application for the fourth time in the third language. 
It seems we don't get to sell enough copies before a new fad 
comes round and we have to redress Miss Minniver.   I thought 
this was computer science, not computer fashion. :-)

The next big thing is the binaries.
