OK, probably not the fairest of answers -- it's a bit of a one-off -- but not as bad as XQueryX :) I think one thing that has not happened is that nobody has created and reused those dozens of modular schemas for things like addresses and names that we all imagined five years ago. One possible growth area for namespaces that will make the examples less contrived is if lots of documents from different schemas being stored natively (either native XML databases databases or native storage in RDBMSs). Once that data starts being joined, the need for namespaces should become more apparent. Ditto the use of XQuery in heterogenous join engines. -- Ron Ronald Bourret wrote: > Micah Dubinko wrote: > >> Look at any introductory text on namespaces, and the first section >> explaining why they're needed will have an embarrassingly contrived >> example. --Try it! > > > Um, XSLT? > > -- Ron > > > > ----------------------------------------------------------------- > The xml-dev list is sponsored by XML.org <http://www.xml.org>, an > initiative of OASIS <http://www.oasis-open.org> > > The list archives are at http://lists.xml.org/archives/xml-dev/ > > To subscribe or unsubscribe from this list use the subscription > manager: <http://www.oasis-open.org/mlmanage/index.php> > > >
