I'd like to announce that Mark Logic, the company I joined about six
months ago, has set up an XQuery developer resource site and placed on
the site a free download of the XQuery engine known as "Mark Logic
Content Interaction Server". I've been using this server for about two
years, but up until this week Mark Logic never made the software
publicly available. With this new site, Mark Logic hasn't just made an
evaluation version available. They've put out a Community Licensed
version with no time limit, just a 50 Meg data size limit.

I'm very glad to see Mark Logic sharing their implementation more widely
because it is a very solid XQuery engine that (with the commercial
license) can efficiently operate on data sized beyond a Terabyte. I
personally learned XQuery on Mark Logic two years ago (at the time when
they were known as Cerisent), but I had special access by working for
one of their customers. Now anyone who wants to can learn on Mark Logic
and even use it in production for free on small-scale projects.

The new site is http://xqzone.marklogic.com.

You can find a technical overview at
