On August 10, the San Diego Software Industry Council is sponsoring a panel
discussion of Internet and web services security challenges. A panel of software
gurus will explore solutions and specifications that address web services
security issues such as authentication, authorization, encryption, secure
sockets, profiles and so on. Panel members will address topics related to
diverse platforms, including J2EE and .Net.

When:     August 10, 2004 (6-8 pm)
Where:   Websense, 10240 Sorrento Valley Rd, San Diego, California

Panel members include Jeff Carmichael, Tony Darugar, Kevin Dick, Blake Dournaee
and Dan Rogers. Registration is open to non-SDSIC members. Pre-registration is

Panelist biographies
===============
Jeff Carmichael (VP of Engineering/CTO - Tarari, Inc.) Jeff's engineering
leadership spans over 16 years and encompasses commercial product development
and e commerce systems. Most recently he served in Intel's Network Equipment
Division and as IPivot's engineering director, where he was responsible for
hardware and software engineering of e commerce appliances and acceleration
devices. Jeff's experience also includes his tenure at TV/COM International, a
provider of secure digital satellite/cable delivery systems and interactive
set-top boxes.

Tony Darugar (Chief Architect, Blue Titan) has been architecting and building
high performance Web based applications since 1994. His areas of interest
include XML, Web Services, and high performance architectures for the Web. Tony
is a regular speaker at industry events, including NextWare, Web Services
Reality, XML Edge, XML Devcon, Networld + Interop, O'Reilly Open Source
Conference, Usenix Tcl conference, and others. He also writes regularly for IBM
Developer magazine and other publications.

Kevin Dick (CEO, Claymore Systems) is a B2B, XML, middleware expert and a
specialist on technical architectures. He is the author of XML: A Manager's
Guide (Addison-Wesley) as well as book length technical reports on J2EE servers
and object databases. Claymore Systems specializes in security. It recently
developed SSL auditing technologies for DARPA, the primary research arm of the
Defense Department. One of its products is a secure Java toolkit.

Blake Dournaee (Senior Architect, Sarvega, Inc.). Blake is the author of XML
Security (McGraw-Hill) and he was on the program committee for XML Security
2002. Before joining Sarvega, Inc in 2003, he was an employee of RSA Security.

Dan Rogers (Microsoft) was the original Program Manager for BizTalk , created
BizTalk.org, and one of the original architects of UDDI. He is currently a
Product Planner in the Visual Studio group at Microsoft. He's been a frequent
speaker at conferences, including Software Development , TechEd, PDC , XML
DevCon and XML and Web Services One.
