No.

I'd consider a two-stage process.  Have the first stylesheet write the 
actual working one, building in the right path expressions.  This 
approach will save you no end of grief.

And ask these kinds of questions on the Mulberry xslt list - nothing 
wrong with asking here but there you will get 100% xslt eyeballs looking 
at your posts.
