I know in the case of startreck and Mr Data this sounds true but for us mortals....being called data is not the supreme compliment to say the least :-) I wonder how winFS will extract the meta-data from the data (i.e. the files) and what kind of algorithm it will use. Will it be an automated process (and probable error due to the algorithms especially in the case of statistical processing compared to linguistic processing), will it be a manual process (just observe how zealous people are with actual document management systems asking to fill some meta-data :-), will it be both? Anyway, meta-data in the context of the intranet is a completely different ball game. Will winFs sufficiently expandable to allow the replacement of the automated classification engine? If yes, just having a common publishing format is a great gain. Will it be RDF or a new MicrosoftML language? Cheers Didier PH Martin
