The W3C XL Binary Charaterization Working Group was created to try and pin down requirements, identify use cases, and help procure benchmarks and test data, precisely because a three day workshop couldn't reach consensus on whether W3C should go ahead and do techincal work to define a binary interchange format for XML. A number of people did present and/or mention tests. We went through only a subset of the papers in plenary session, because there were too many them all to be presented. So not all the results were presented to everyone directly, although since the papers were public, everyone has had a chance to see them afterwards, and in many cases people had read them before the Workshop.
