Not directly using selectNodes. However, you can still accomplish this by creating a simple XSLT transformation and retrieving its result. I did that in DOM Level 3 Xpath implementation for Internet Explorer. You are welcome to study the code here: http://glazkov.com/blog/archive/2004/04/06/168.aspx :DG< > -----Original Message----- > From: Tomas Olsson [mailto:tomas.olsson@s...] > Sent: Wednesday, May 05, 2004 1:16 PM > To: xml-dev@l... > Subject: XPath, count function > > Hi! > > I wonder if its possible to use the count function of XPath > in JavaScript. > I'm using MSXML. > > I want to count the number of elements with the attribute > fnamn="Tomas" and > return the number: > > count(//*[@fnamn="Tomas"])) > > Is it possible to use that expression in a function in JavaScript and > return the number or do I have to use the selectNodes() and check the > number of nodes in the nodeList? > > /Tomas > > > > ----------------------------------------------------------------- > The xml-dev list is sponsored by XML.org <http://www.xml.org>, an > initiative of OASIS <http://www.oasis-open.org> > > The list archives are at http://lists.xml.org/archives/xml-dev/ > > To subscribe or unsubscribe from this list use the subscription > manager: <http://www.oasis-open.org/mlmanage/index.php> > >
