how to replace cookies

Many organisations such as conference organisers and publishers have
limited resources, having been pared down to a small number of staff
over the recent years. That is, those companies that have not gone
under entirely. Even before that, these companies focused on their core
expertise: logistics. Much as I'd like to devote time to creating
technically perfect web sites, it's just not a financial reality for any
concerned.

(It continually pains me that XML.com is not even well-formed XHTML, but
as the editor of the content and not the controller of the publishing
dollars, there is little I can do.)

Also, it's worth pointing out that IDEAlliance already goes further than
other conference organisers in actually using XML to create the papers
and proceedings, and making that XML available. Not so long ago I was
walking away from conferences organised by certain groups with 600 pages
of printed-out Powerpoint weighing me down.

I understand your frustration, but if you are able to bear with us on
this point I'm sure the XML Europe 2004 conference will be all the
better for your participation.

Thanks for bringing these matters up. They will be noted and discussed
with the organisers.
