This would be better asked on xsl-list (where it's a faq) (see http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list ) <xsl:sort select='$sorted_field' order='ascending'/> xsl variables do not contain expressions, but values, so the above sort expression is using a fixed sort key value for all items, so no sorting takes place.
