RE: Managing Innovation

orangutans are skeptical
An excellent resource. Thanks Benjamin. I will pass it on locally.

If you are asking me why these haven't been fixed, I could
only speculate. The author of the page notes that some
have been and speculates his page has been noticed by
Microsoft. I do know security is getting better, and
as David Megginson just noted, they have a ways to go
in the code base and in the cultural change. As one
who is in a company that has a new CEO talking about
major cultural changes, I can only repeat what I
quoted from Paul Simon:

"Orangutans are skeptical of changes in their cages."

Orangutans are noted in the primate world for their inability to control
spontaneous behaviors. Even though they have
collaborative skills, the inability to drop a
grudge or resist an opportunity to take advantage
of another member when it suits them screws up
their collaborations. It takes full frontal
lobe development to do that and/or lots of practice.
Anthropologists say that frontal lobe development
in humans isn't complete until the early 30s,
and ours is an industry thriving on the long hours
of cheap labor put in by people considerably
younger. Somewhere between youthful enthusiasm
and aged conservatism, there must be a sweet spot
and we need to find it.

No security updates from Microsoft in the last 3 weeks: NONE
The last one was on Sept. 10th.

And it isn't like they have fixed all the known [1] security problems.
Some of the these are _more than three years old._
