I don't expect that search engines will care about XML schemas (of any
current flavor) much at all. 

They may certainly want to know about XML vocabularies, but schemas seem
pretty bent on telling computers what structures they might see, not
what those structures mean.

I'm not convinced that the RDF people have any better answers there,
though they can convey a wider set of relationships - but at least they
do seem to orient their projects around those kinds of questions.
