you got it pretty much... the circle and circle slash are the SGML inclusion/exclusion. the & represents Replaceable character data the < represents Any the A represents character data cheers...hugh W. I can see what most of the symbols mean (good examples). In memo.jpg, do the circular arcs from header to cc and bcc indicate the & operator? The icons for #PCDATA and EMPTY seem obvious enough.
