I don't say that you introduced it, but I look at the examples for which you
are advocating AF or control attributes as being fundamentally disambiguated
(did I actually use that non-word???) by their context. In your post in
this thread dated May 31, 2003 10:45 PM, you refer to this example,
http://www.nyct.net/~aray/sgml/demo/dept/session.txt  (I added a few blank
lines for visibility) -

<Departments>
   <Department>
      <Name>DVS1</Name>

      <Address>
         <Street>Wilhelminenstr. 7</Street>
         <City>Darmstadt</City>
         <State>Hessen</State>
         <Country>Germany</Country>
         <PostalCode>D-64285</PostalCode>
      </Address>

      <Server>
         <Name>OurWebServer</Name>
         <Address>123.45.67.8</Address>
      </Server>

   </Department>
</Departments>

Here, there are two kinds of Address elements. My viewpoint is that
__within the document__ they occur in different contexts and that is how you
know them apart. In addition, they clearly have different content models.
Schemas, AF, etc., attempt to inform us about these differences, but within
the document itself it is a matter of context and content model.

That is how I connected "context" with what you have been posting, but I
have to admit that I remember a particular post - except that now I cannot
find it under your name so maybe my memory is at fault about it.

Cheers,

Tom P
