I don't think you will find XML rendered in the client to be supportable
for some years as most sites can't afford 'dual track' sites and they
would be insane to produce sites that will not display in a large fraction
of the deployed web browsers. On the server side, XML sites have become
quite common. My company has deployed a number of sites that use XML
rendered server side (sometimes mixed with CGI-type technologies) via XSLT
to HTML via a custom framework. A good example:
