You are using ezmlm for this list (I hope it is ezmlm-idx, actually)? 1) ezmlm-idx has been in use at Apache for a long, long time, and is used to host many, very busy mailinglists over there. Much more than 50, actually, and I bet Apache does more smtp/list deliveries than Oasis. 2) ezmlm-idx provides with you with simple, but efficient remote administration capabilities that can be done through email. My take would be that some key people of this community are capable & willing to co-administer this list, not using 'the backend' (ha), but just by reading up on http://ezmlm.org/faq-0.40/FAQ-13.html and be added to DIR/modsub or DIR/modpost I know ezmlm/qmail can be a pig to install and configure, but given some care, this combo should work out. Also, there's http://qmailtoaster.clikka.com/ which is helpful too.
